news from stealth: architecture biennale in venice

This year we are co-curating the Dutch pavilion at the Architecture Biennale in Venice, together with Saskia van Stein from the Netherlands Architecture Institute. Our Biennale entry is called ARCHIPHOENIX - FACULTIES FOR ARCHITECTURE. Instead of starting out with an exhibition we have set up a platform for exchange of ideas on the future of the architecture discipline. If you are in Venice from 11-14 September, please join the program. We would be more then happy to see you!

The project focuses on five questions each architect encounters: WHY WE MAKE - beyond the profitable simplicity into the social sustainability, WHAT WE MAKE - beyond the artifact, HOW WE WORK - beyond the singular into the collaborative, FOR WHOM WE MAKE - beyond power to empowerment, and finally WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE (AND UN-MAKE) - beyond the sustainable: challenging the flow of resources, materials and people. These five seemingly simple questions, if put to face the future challenges ahead might turn to become serious issues for discussion!

Coming out of the days of debates, interviews, lectures, workshop, an exhibition and a book are made on the spot, in collaboration with the editorial group we formed. For updated program, live video stream and downloadable book (updates on daily basis) visit: http://www.facultiesforarchitecture.org/program.php.

The program will be changing on a daily basis to accomodate variety of programs.

This year it is Venice two times! We are part of the exhibition in the Italian Pavilion, curated by Aaron Betsky and Emiliano Gandolfi.
